Christmas & New Year’s Main Dishes

Ahhhh, the Holidays! 😊 They are here! What a joyful time, celebrated with friends and family most classically united around a dinner table enjoying a meal. But sometimes, the typical “holiday heavy hitters” for main dishes like a ham, prime rib, pork tenderloin, leg of lamb, or a beef roast can seem daunting and time consuming. Not to fear, we have some ideas! And if you are like me and procrastinate on all things, I will be in our Market from 9 AM – 3 PM tomorrow, on Christmas Eve to help you in-person to plan out exactly what you need for a delicious, local main dish!

One thing to remember, hams are already fully cooked, so all we want to do is heat throughout WITHOUT drying out. That’s it. I suggest this method using a Vermont maple glaze. On the side, use this mustard recipe my grandmother makes every Christmas to help balance out the sweet richness.

Beef Bourguignon

If you prefer the low, slow cooking flavor payoff, this recipe is for you. It’s adapted from Julia Child (so you know its legit) and will wow you with flavor from our variety of roasts. I especially love serving this with polenta or potatoes.

My mother-in-law made this recipe last year and I can’t wait to have it again this year. Its authentic and lets the meat shine, while maintaining a level of luxury you expect from the holidays. Again, if you aren’t a “lamb person”, you haven’t tried ours yet. Its not gamey, is very tender, and once customers start using it, they keep coming back.

A brand-new cut for us and they are GORGEOUS. We like this recipe, but if you have family specials, send them to us as we try out this new cut.

Steak. What is better? If your gathering is smaller, or you just simply love steak, give this a try. After about a decade of trial and error, this is the most fool proof way to prepare a steak. Our Beef Tenderloins and Ribeye are selling out fast so grab yours!

We thank you for supporting local this Holiday season and wish you and yours Peace, Joy, and Love this wonderful Christmas and New Year!
