Fairmont Market: Cheers to 5 Years of Farm-Fresh Goodness in Vermont!

Five years. It feels like just yesterday, and yet so much has happened here at Fairmont Market since July 2020. As we celebrate our 5-year anniversary, we're taking a moment to reflect on our journey, the milestones we've achieved, and the incredible community that has grown with us.

Our story, like many during that unprecedented year, began with a challenge. In July of 2020, during the uncertainties of the pandemic and its impact on traditional supply chains, Tucker found himself with 20 pigs from Pennsylvania that needed to be processed and brought to market. This challenge presented a unique opportunity for the four women of the farm to collaborate on a new venture: Fairmont Market. It was an exciting, yet daunting, leap of faith. By the end of 2020, we were proud to establish our first restaurant partnership with Three Penny Taproom, a significant step in our early days.

A Look Back: Growing Together, Year by Year

  • 2021 – Our First Full Year: This was a year of learning and growth. We processed 27 beef, 24 pigs, and 26 lambs, with gross sales reaching $57,000. Our relationship with Three Penny Taproom continued to grow, accounting for nearly $20,000 in sales, laying a strong foundation for direct-to-consumer sales.

  • 2022 – Building Momentum: We continued to expand, processing 18 beef, 22 pigs, and 19 lambs. Gross sales grew to $64,765, reflecting steady progress. This year also saw us navigate unexpected challenges, including an insurance payout from a walk-in breakdown, which helped us continue our growth trajectory.

  • 2023 – Expanding Our Reach: Our commitment to quality continued to resonate, with gross sales hitting $66,500. We diversified our restaurant partnerships, proudly supplying Sarducci's, Fox Market, and 5th Quarter, even as Three Penny Taproom faced a temporary closure for several months. We processed 18 beef, 15 pigs, and 4 lambs, adapting to market needs.

  • 2024 – A Year of Significant Growth: This past year marked a remarkable leap forward! We processed 26 beef, 18 pigs, and 20 lambs. Our gross sales soared to $106,964, a testament to your growing support and our expanding network of partners, including Three Penny, Sarducci's, State House, Twin Farms, Fox Market, Barr Hill, and 5th Quarter.

Beyond the Numbers: Community & Connection

Our journey has been about so much more than just sales figures. It's been about connecting with you, our community, and fostering a deeper understanding of where your food comes from. Over these five years, we've loved hosting special events like "Burger Night," the lively "Soup Cook-Off," and our popular Customer Appreciation Nights.

But it's not just about what we raise here on the farm! We've also been incredibly proud to collaborate with other fantastic local businesses, bringing you an even wider selection of Vermont's best. You can now add golden Suddabee's Honey to your order, stock up on creamy Cabot Dairy Products, and enjoy farm-fresh eggs thanks to our friends over at Potters Field Homestead! And of course, Island Homemade Ice Cream has been a sweet addition, perfect for those warm summer days. These partnerships allow us to offer a truly comprehensive farm market experience, all while supporting other local small businesses.

We've learned so much about bringing our products directly to you. In a world where understanding your food's origin is increasingly important, we're proud to be a transparent and reliable source of high-quality, wholesome products. Thank you for being an integral part of the Fairmont Market story. Your support has fueled our growth and reinforced our mission. We're excited for what the next five years will bring and look forward to continuing to provide you with the very best from our farm.
