  • We raise all of our heifer calves as replacements

  • All calves are raised in hutches outdoors

  • They are fed milk replacer 2x/day and are offered free-choice starter and water

  • At about 6 weeks of age, calves are weaned and a week later moved into group pens of 6-8 calves

aah, isn't that cute?!

Isabel and Shelby during an afternoon feeding

  • They are transitioned from calf starter to a heifer grain during this time and TMR is introduced at 8 weeks old

  • Heifers leave the calf barn at approximately 5 months of age.  They are moved to one of our 2 heifer facilities

  • Heat detection begins at 13 months of age

  • Heifers are bred by artificial insemination

  • Our age at first calving is 22-23 months

Hanging out with the little one...
